Usually when people talk about pattern recognition, they mean the practice of identifying patterns within something in the world or within their experience by which they can extract some consistent elements that could support meaningful statistical predictions. ADEPT LION takes the exact opposite approach to pattern recognition. Rather than starting with the world, it starts with defining a set of fixed relationships, rules and defined patterns that determine what and how things can exist within that system. These computable patterns are then used to express those things that make up our world and experience as analogies or metaphors. The result is a means of expressing - or in other words a pattern language - that is at the same time, representative of the real things but also entirely computable as a system. Then, one can reason over this model of the "real world" using the meaning that has already been defined to exist within the system.
Salveretec has taken the idea of a particular system of pattern recognition and built a tool to support instances of this pattern language that enforce the grammar, build the vocabulary and enable the syntax for expressing nearly any other data or information structure as a set of computable patterns that can be reasoned over to generate further knowledge and wisdom as a coherent instance of related patterns.
